Pam (2)Pam’s Post

I have been researching and writing self-sufficiency publications since 1985.   In 2005 I created the the ‘Living in Harmony with the Planet’ Workshops  as a result of requests from customers for more practical experience in making and creating the many suggestions in The Self-Sufficiency Shoppe publication range.   So I established a series of workshops based on the more popular topics covered in the booklets (i.e. natural skin care, green cleaning, natural hair care, practical kitchen skills, etc.).

Since 1985 I have spent many hours researching recipes and ideas – discovering what works, what  does not, what’s the easiest and most cost effective to make, etc.  The result being both the series of publications available through The Shoppe and, more particularly, in a practical sense, the Living in Harmony with the Planet Workshops containing the very best of the recipes and suggestions in the publications.  All have been tried and tested – not only by myself – but by the many workshop participants over the years – offering valuable information and experience for applying on a day-to-day basis.

All the recipes contain ingredients sourced from the home, garden or supermarket.  When working on new recipes and ideas I found nothing more annoying than suggestions for ingredients that are difficult to locate or impractical to use. So I have made a special point of adapting recipes to be accessible and approachable for everyone.  Emphasis has also been on ingredients being affordable, locally produced, as natural (chemical free) as possible and environmentally responsible.

Creating and running the workshops has been a fulfilling process of passing on my experiences and knowledge to interested people. The workshops have been put together in a simple easy-to-follow  format so that everyone – adults and children – can enjoy the healthy and money-saving benefits of self-sufficiency, self-reliance and natural alternatives.

I hope your workshop adventures are successful (if not, do not be deterred – try, try again – as I have discovered  – as ‘practice makes perfect’) and that you enjoy making and using the suggestions in your chosen Workshop@Home.

Good luck!

Pam Marshall  – The Self-Sufficiency Shoppe
